aka Do Not Lead Us into Temptation. Cardinal Arduini (Gabriel Montoya) dies suddenly leaving the whole village and monastery in shock. Father Gabrieli (Franco Trentalance) is now in charge of the church and he cannot understand why the cardinal took his own life by drinking poison. The answer is about to be revealed as he takes a confession from a troubled Sister Candida (Letizia Bruni) who confesses to him that she is pregnant with Cardinal Arduini's child. For a cardinal to commit such a sin, Father Gabrieli fears that it is the devil's doing. A wealthy lady Mrs. Pandolfi, a patron of the church, comes to him for confession and tells him that she and her husband is having trouble in their marriage. The lady starts to seduce Father Gabrieli and he submits to her. Indeed the devil has entered the church and in a sign of defeat Father Gabrieli contemplates suicide just like Cardinal Arduini.
